Discover Cameri, a Treasure of Nature and History

Dome and Basilica of San Gaudenzio

The Basilica of San Gaudenzio is an important place of Catholic worship in the city of Novara, in Piedmont, famous for its dome, 121 meters high, which becomes 126 if we also consider the statue of the Savior placed on the top, the work of Alessandro Antonelli. It has the dignity of a minor basilica.[1] Excluding the dome of St. Peter´s Basilica in the Vatican, which reaches 136 meters, the dome of San Gaudenzio is the highest in the Italian peninsula[2] and the second highest in Europe[unsourced].

The jewel of Cameri and gateway to a world of nature and relaxation is undoubtedly Villa Picchetta. This magnificent country villa, whose origins date back to the 16th century, is not only a building of great historical and architectural value, but also the headquarters of the Management Agency for the Protected Areas of Ticino and Lake Maggiore.

Parish Church of San Michele Arcangelo
